K - so Radio Flyer left an empty spot in the "fleet" - soooooo, in comes ED!! He's a 1973 Honda CB360.. that's right 360!!! not a little tiny 350, but a balls-out 360 :P Rammer figured he needed a piercing on the front fender and I smashed a VW cat-eye into the headlight casing. SAAWWEEEETTT

So - I guess I should mention - KR has lost his roomy that he had for a while - Radio Flyer had to go to a new home.... Went to a very nice couple who had two little wee ones, and he seemed to be pretty keen on the VW's, so I'm going to go with Radio Flyer went to a good home =)

HA - Not so much - 11pm, that's not a sunset - that's the glow from the bloody engine fire going on in the rearview!!! Being a wagon made for smokey inside. LOL. Guess Karma's officially one of the family now - I've managed to light every one of my VW's on fire one way or another... It happens. Right?

This was just a little burp outta the carb... which may have had a wee bit of extra starter juice in it - which, when it burped, lite up the engine like Hiroshima. Good thing I had a canvas bank money bag laying around to beat the fire down - don't ask... And good thing for pancake engines - as you can see no damage, just a flash fire... sorta :)

Anyways, good part is, she ran and sounded like a champ - but is looking like needs some gas-line maintenance, tank was drained, but need to work out the injection kinks it seems. So yup, getting close to a voyage on the ashpalt!

Oh - and peel back some of the asbestos undercoating reveils the most pristein pan I've ever owned!! SSAAAWWWEEEETTTT

Yup - since KR missed deadline (barely even started!) - I thought it'd be a good idea to make the problem worse! LOL - got a line on a 1973 Type 3. COMPLETE - should make for an easier project right? Ok - am I officially hooped? Maybe. LOL - too many projects on the go? Including having bought a pickmeup - which I started painting, house painting, basement man cave converstion, Passat to fix, '67 Ride to fix, '72 Baja to fix... AND I'm lookin for a 2-wheeled Honda on top of everything... dreamer? Maybe - but who cares, keeps me outta trouble I guess :)

So, Kafer Rute does have a bounty on his head... what's going to come of him? Hard to say at this point - will try a few negotiation tactics for a possible extension - but will not push that too hard, as a deal is a deal.

Oh - the '86 "Rammer" is for a parts / supplies runner... yup, that's my excuse on that one :)

Whoa - strange. So, been talkin 'bout KR for a while now - still a "vision" - then, a few days ago.. What did HotWheels bring out - my vision! From the chop to the extended front end and even the full length ragtop sunroof! Even the color isn't far off (KR is probably a burnt/rust orange). Wheels aren't what they are to be - but hey, what do you expect when HW makes a model of your car? LOL

Have had a question though - regarding the City Jetta. Would I go there?

Well - the 1 comment I have - we went lookin for a City Golf, and walked away with a 2008 Rabbit instead. Bigger engine, WAY more horsepower - same fuel economy!?!! The Rabbit has a much more advanced fuel management system allowing it to do this. AND, the finance rate for the Rabbit was impossible to say no to. FYI - the Rabbit is basically the Jetta with a Hatch (in fact, it has more interior room than the Jetta because of the hatch - roof doesn't slope down like it does in the Jetta).

So, in the end - if you're lookin @ VW, take a llooooonnng hard look puttin any "City" model up against the Rabbit. Car costs a wee bit more, but in the end, you end up with WAY more ride than with a City model... which also relates to better re-sale value.

Ok - nobody tell, car HAS been touched every month... however "work" has been... it just has been.

I'm lazy. BUT... ahhh whatever - next steps include replacing the passenger side pan - for $99, (concept-1) COMPLETELY worth it. And I foresee a new welder in my hands by Christmas - so this is entirely possible.

I need a clone.

Past 2 months - new... FREEBEE rear end - trans and axles - not 100% on the original KR tranny, so gonna pull the swap.

Also learned how the torsion bars will lower the rear - to gonna tap that down when I mold in the new hardware.

Pics on a disposible camera - digital was @ cabin during dismantle.

Spring fever

K - haven't forgotten 'bout this place - just been f'n BUZY this spring time. Ah well - KR hasn't seen too too much action, but it's younger cousin has finally seen some road time. Found a loop hole in the plates - Antique status for Buggy! A 1972 baja, wt a 1776cc engine - stinger exhaust, dual Kadron carbs... one hurtin engine after blowin a valve collar, but he's patched and tears up the asphalt anyways. Can you say loud? Sorry, didn't hear you - been drivin the buggy :)

The way the coppers have been swarmin 'round with their Spring Sweep, I'll be shocked if the buggy makes it thru the summer without being pulled off the road. He's not so quiet. In fact, it's down right rude. Hopefully nobody keels when I drive by 'em. For some reason this ride is balls out driving! Which reminds me, I really need to bleed the brakes.

Anyways, I'm gonna make a point... ahhh sc rw it. I'll TRY to get here more often - with more updates etc. pics included - maybe a small clip of the buggy disturbing the peace.

!!!Two Months!!!

Whao - good thing I've actually been doing SOMETHING for KR...

Scored a SWEET deck lid from Carstairs AB - made a deal with a guy who owns a mini VW grave yard there!!! I'm sure it's not the last - a nice little 62 rests there that I'm greasin him for.

Anyways - also got some hardcore brake hardwear (needed to buy something I could bring back on the vwfamly trip from Concept 1) - are parts on? No. I wanna do-up the pan first - which I need that F\N welder for!!!

Never bought the dig cam either... things went south - as in, been having to work WAY too much - waa waa - who cares. No excuse.

By the end of the summer I want to have the rolling chassis all done up - lowered and new half pan (one side is solid!) Roof will probably be chopped off - but not re-assembled. I'm very serious 'bout having KR rollin for the Cruize Night 2009... that's the goal - and remember, I said rollin, not pretty...

So here's some pics for... well... fun! I should run a wee contest - see who can identify every part in this picture... prize? A nice pat on the back from yourself... and... that's it. so guess away!!

Ok - I actually have gotten some work done in the past month... just bad @ gettin things on here.... list of work includes:

1) Startin to pull apart front beam in order to lower - route to take... poor mans way - cheap-o lowering torsion adjusters... thought about simply removing a couple of torsion bars, but I don't think that's wise... this thing does need to be safe... sorta...

2) Made up list of brake components and sheet metal I need - to be purchased in Feb @ www.concept1.ca - a fine $300 touch I guess.

3) Started tapin for the chop... well, more taping.

4) Worked an F load of overtime - all cash going toward welder (VERY necessary for actual work to begin) - a fine $600 touch (to be bought SOON!!!)

So that's 'bout it for now - once that welder hits my hands, I'll probably burn myself a hundred times, start myself on fire a few times - hopefully stay away from the ER - but once I get all that outta my system, I'll be workin on KR!!!

Sooo - OH! forgot- also gonna buy a digital camera come Feb as well!!!!! So I'll be posting many pics once that happens!!! I'm very excited...

Fricker... Feb's turnin out to be a pricey month ;)

I do have one pic to share though - the slice and dice of the past - the crater is filled with red juice, so you can't see the depth - and it was a "blind" pic as I had to hold the camera well back to enable it to even take the shot.

So, since it's not all that bad - I probably don't need an advisory here right?

I think I'm in hybernating mode - I could blame it on all the additional work (real-at-work-work) I've been doing - but who gives a sh!t about real work?

Anyways - my other excuse for not having much of an update is due to the fact that I still do not own a digital camera... it's really hard to take pictures and then wait for the roll to be filled b4 developing it... and I'm not inclined to use up the roll on stupid pictures... what's the point in doing that!? All the extra developing charges would have to come out of KR's budget!! And that wouldn't be any good.

Well - excuses must come to an end as the long weekend is coming!!! Yeeaaahhh for Rememberance Day in Saskatchewan!!!

K - so I'm an analyzer - I must vision everything - all steps in my head prior to going crazy on something. I'm gettin close to that - besides - need $$ to buy a few parts.

A couple of things I recently have purchased were 2 front fenders. I think this ride is going to have solid mounted front fenders (which hug right onto the tires and turn with the wheels) and complete rear fenders which will have the wheel openings closed 100% up. Logistically it doesn't make sense to do that as changing a tire will become impossible - but on this car - nothing logistically makes sense - so bite me! I may just rivet a panel on which could then be drilled out should their ever be a need.

Anyways - pics will come of the concept "pieced" together once I find our bloody camera - this is such a pain. I need to step up.

Ok - in case you're wondering what gives... I'm a slacker. The ultimate lazy as s. So yes, this project has a 3 year time limit set.

It also has some disclamer put on by Red that blah blah blah...

Anyways - I've been measuring the roof for it's chop (to start possibly this winter) and to assist me I have the March 1997 issue of Hot VW's. That's right - I KNEW there was a reason I kept it!!!

Happy factor: Half Mast.

Reason: Need part II - April 1997 issue. I can purchase a copy right from Hot VW's, but I'm pretty sure I have it... just need to find it.

Oh - and I'm workin on installin spakin new brakes all on all four corners - why. Cause even if it looks like crap, it's gotta at least stop on a dime. I believe my days of stoppin entirely on down-shifting and e-brake are done. Kids have instilled fatherly responsibility in me. Have to!!!

So... Metal cutting disc + palm = chum.

It wasn't KR who caused the bloodshed - but Vwfmly ('91 passat) who did. Doing some work on the Red Wagon and the grinder tried to chew my thumb off. Did you know those things cut skin!? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!!??

So - ye ask and ye shall recieve.
I may have a line on a complete '59 roof required for the 6 inch chop (see details of the build slowly will come). PLUS a complete set of glass - which brings me to the point of custom cutting glass... can it be done? Test subject: Rear window from a '72 - no good to me, never will be - at least it can be my canvas.

Cost: Unknown @ this time.

Happy Factor: Indifferent @ this time.
